Updates
Dear Students,
As announced in a University communication on December 14, 2021, Brown requires all students to receive the COVID-19 vaccination and, once eligible, the COVID-19 booster shot. This requirement extends to all undergraduate students who will be engaged in any level of in-person activities, whether in the U.S. or abroad, during the Spring 2022 semester.
We write to inform all students participating in Brown’s study abroad programs that in order to be in compliance with this policy, you should plan to receive your COVID-19 booster shot prior to departing for your program if you are eligible (six months after completing the vaccination series for Pfizer/Moderna and two months after receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine). Once abroad, access and availability of booster vaccines may vary, and local regulations and policies may require students to have proof of COVID-19 vaccination booster to participate in certain in-person activities.
Once you receive your booster or if you already have, please upload a copy of your documentation to the Health and Wellness Patient Portal. Directions on how to do so are available on the Verify Your Vaccination web page, and additional information is available here on the COVID-19 Vaccine Frequently Asked Questions page of the Healthy Brown website.
For students ineligible to receive their booster prior to departure for study abroad, please contact the Office of International Programs at oip@brown.edu for advising support.
For students who will have received and uploaded their booster documentation prior to departure, please continue to monitor travel requirements and pre-arrival testing protocols. As a Brown study abroad student, you have access to support from International SOS, which can provide up-to-date guidance on arrival procedures. International SOS is also available 24/7 in the event you need emergency assistance while traveling to your program and once you are on-site. Finally, please do not hesitate to reach out to the OIP or your study abroad provider with additional questions.
Sincerely,
The Office of International Programs
