Updates
Hello,
In our communication to you on March 11, we requested that you submit your Summer Location of Study by Monday, March 22. Based on your having indicated that you will be studying in the Providence area this summer, we are writing to request that you provide us with the date when you will be arriving in Providence for the summer semester so that we can initiate your COVID-19 testing. Please read this letter carefully to note important actions required of you. The dates also appear in an at-a-glance table at the end of this letter.
Summer classes will begin remotely on Wednesday, May 12; classes with a hybrid option will begin meeting in-person on Wednesday, May 19 (provided that the Campus Activity Status is at or above Level 2). On-campus students will follow a Quiet Period from arrival until the start of in-person classes. Off-campus students returning to Providence need to plan their return to allow adequate time for quarantine per Rhode Island Department of Health guidelines — those in effect in May — in advance of in-person classes. Please note that off-campus students will not be allowed on campus during the Quiet Period preceding the start of summer semester (May 9-18) except to engage in required COVID-19 testing.
Any student enrolled in summer term in Providence or engaging with campus for other approved reasons during summer term is required to enroll and engage in regular COVID testing and must enter their arrival date in MyBrown by Monday, April 12. Students who will be enrolled in the Providence area in Summer 2021 will be required to agree to the Student Commitment to COVID-19 Community Health and Safety Requirements (Student Commitment). Students for whom Summer 2021 is their first term of enrollment in the 2020-21 academic year will receive a follow-up email with further information and an individualized link to an online educational module and the Student Commitment. This is due April 28.
