To the Brown Community: Thanksgiving Recess COVID-19 Testing Information & Requirements

Updates

Dear Brown Community Members,

As we approach the Thanksgiving recess, I am writing to provide information regarding COVID-19 testing site hours of operation over the holiday and to remind undergraduate students of the testing requirements following return to campus.

The Broad Institute - the lab where our test samples are processed -- will be closed for part of the day before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving day, and the day following. Accordingly, Brown’s testing sites at Alumnae Hall and One Davol will be open on Wednesday, Nov. 24, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and will then be closed on Thursday, Nov. 25, and Friday, Nov. 26. Alumnae Hall will reopen on Saturday, Nov. 27, at 10:00 am. Community members who wish to get a test next week should schedule accordingly; if you need a test result for travel purposes, we recommend scheduling a test to take place at least two days prior to your departure.

As previously communicated, all undergraduate students (vaccinated or not) are required to test after the Thanksgiving recess. Undergraduate students returning to campus must schedule a test on day 1 and day 5 following their return to campus (for example, Sunday, Nov. 28, and Thursday, Dec. 2, for a student who returns from travel that Sunday). Undergraduate students staying on campus or in their off-campus residence during the break are also required to test twice, five days apart, the week after break. All other members of the community who travel away from Providence for the holiday and/or spend time with others they have not been with regularly (extended friends and family, for example) are strongly encouraged to take advantage of an optional test that week.

We have sufficient testing site staff and operating hours in place for the week following Thanksgiving recess to handle the increased testing volume. Updated hours and days of operations can be found on the Testing Sites and Hours page of the healthy.brown.edu website.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. For questions or support regarding the testing program, students can contact the student testing support team (studenttesting@brown.edu), and faculty and staff can contact the employee testing support team (employeetestinguhr@brown.edu).

Sincerely,
