Updates
Dear Student,
You are receiving this message because you have indicated on the Brown vaccination survey that you will arrive in Providence on or after September 3. This has implications for your ability to attend classes in person at the start of the semester. If your arrival date to Providence is September 3rd, you will not be able to attend in person classes until September 10th. Students arriving later, will similarly need to wait until seven days after arrival to attend classes.
It is important to note that Brown is requiring all unvaccinated individuals who are on-campus in Fall 2021 to continue regular asymptomatic testing (twice each week or no less than once every four days). The University is also requiring all unvaccinated students who are arriving in Providence to:
1. Enter a seven-day modified quarantine period when they arrive;
2. Get tested on the first and fifth days of their modified quarantine period; and
3. Wear a mask and practice social distancing as directed by the COVID-19 Campus Safety Policy.
For the seven-day modified quarantine period, students will not be permitted to leave their residential building for any reason (including classes) except to get a COVID-19 test, receive care from Health Services by appointment, pick up a meal from a dining hall, or pick up mail or packages. These measures are critically important to the continued health and safety of the Brown community.
Students who receive a positive result from any COVID-19 test will be required to isolate for seven days as directed by University Health Services and may miss the first week of classes depending on when they receive the result. Unvaccinated students will be permitted to exit their modified quarantine period after they have received negative results from their day 1 and day 5 tests.
If you are unable to return to campus ahead of September 3, please contact your course instructors to indicate that you will not be able to attend in-person classes until post-September 10. Faculty have been advised of this possibility, and sharing this information with instructors as soon as possible will help ensure the most support and flexibility.
For any other questions, please reach out to Brown’s COVID-19 support team (studenttesting@brown.edu). We thank you for your cooperation and commitment to the health and safety of the Brown Community.
Sincerely,
Brown COVID-19 Testing Team
