To Brown Undergraduates Off Campus: Confirmation of Location Due December 13

Updates

Dear Off Campus Undergraduate Students,

We hope you are well. With only a few weeks remaining in the Fall semester, planning is underway for a healthy and safe spring semester. Our records indicate that in completing the Spring 2021 Location of Study Form, you have selected “off campus” as your location of study for the spring semester.

As a student living off campus in the spring semester, you need to plan your arrival to allow adequate time for quarantine per Rhode Island Department of Health guidelines — those in effect in January — in advance of the start of in-person classes on Wednesday, Jan. 27 (provided that the Campus Activity Status is at or above Level 2).

You must enter your arrival date in MyBrown, by Sunday, Dec. 13, in order to initiate your COVID-19 testing in January.  (You will be able to select from a date range for your arrival; if you are not certain of your exact date, please select the earliest likely date range.)

Students who return to the Providence area for the spring semester will be required to agree to an updated Student Commitment to COVID-19 Community Health and Safety Requirements (Student Commitment) and to complete an online educational module by Friday, Dec. 18, 2020. You will receive a follow-up email with further information and an individualized link.

Please note that off-campus students will not be allowed on campus during the Quiet Period preceding

the start of spring semester (Jan. 9-26, 2021) except to engage in required COVID-19 testing. The Quiet Period is a time of minimized contact among students on campus, and restricted interaction between on-campus students and the community beyond Brown.

All plans are based on the best data and public health recommendations currently available, and we may need to make adjustments to the plans outlined in this letter if there is a shift in public health conditions.

If you have questions about the spring semester, please contact spring2021@brown.edu

Sincerely,

Eric Estes
