To Brown Students: Resources for Fall 2020

Updates

Dear Student,

We hope this finds you doing well.

We are reaching out to be sure that you are aware of the services, resources and opportunities for engagement that are available to you during this term when you are not enrolled.

This information is outlined in this Undergraduate Access and Student Engagement chart, and it’s important to underscore that you are eligible for appointments and advising from Academic Advising Deans, Student Support Deans, Academic Support and CareerLAB counseling. You are also eligible to participate virtually in student organizations as a member, depending on the organization’s policy.

As a reminder, only enrolled students are eligible to participate in Brown’s COVID-19 testing program. If you are living in the Providence area, you can find local testing sites via the Rhode Island Department of Health Testing Site Locator

In terms of your presence on campus or in Brown facilities, you should follow the guidelines in effect for visitors to campus. At this time, visitors are not allowed on campus except as specifically approved in departmental Return to Campus and/or Return to Research plans. Visiting campus when visitors are not permitted on campus due to public health considerations could be considered a violation of the Code of Student Conduct. We are being especially strict to ensure that all members of the Brown community adhere to public health requirements.

Students currently on a medical leave who wish to return for the spring term must submit their petition for Clearance to Return to Student Support Services no later than November 1, 2020. A full description of the documentation to include can be found on the Student Support Services website. Students who have any questions about their process are encouraged to contact their support dean or the office in general at studentsupport@brown.edu

For students currently on a personal leave, the deadline to request a return in Spring 2021 was October 1, 2020. The University will review return requests and will email all students after decisions have been finalized regarding enrollments for the spring semester. Please note that students may submit a return request after the deadline via the Student Petitions portal in ASK; all requests will be reviewed on a space-available basis. More information is available in the Leave-taking section of the Healthy Brown Undergraduate FAQ page.

We hope you are doing well in your current endeavors, and we look forward to having you back on campus when you are able to return.

Sincerely,

Eric Estes
Vice President for Campus Life
