Updates
Dear Brown Families,
We hope you are well. Earlier today, President Paxson, Provost Locke and Executive Vice President Chernow informed the Brown community that we will move ahead with the next phase of inviting sophomores, juniors and seniors to campus and returning to in-person instruction.
The public health situation has improved in Rhode Island over the past several weeks, and the conditions the University and the state are experiencing may be among the most conducive for bringing more students back to campus. Sophomores, juniors and seniors, who wish to return to Providence, will be allowed to do so beginning September 18, at which time they will be subject to a mandatory 14-day Quiet Period. In-person instruction of small classes will begin the week of October 5. We invite you to read additional details about this decision in the letter sent today to Brown students.
We continue to strive to provide you and your student with comprehensive information about the University’s plans so that you are able to make the best decisions for your circumstances. It’s important to note that students enrolled for the fall semester have the choice to return to Providence or continue their studies remotely, and all courses will accommodate remote learning. Please continue to reference the Healthy Brown website for the most up to date information about the fall semester.
We look forward to the upcoming semester and to seeing many of your students on campus once again.
Sincerely,
Eric Estes, Vice President for Campus Life
and
Rashid Zia, Dean of the College
