To the Brown Community: Optional Mask Wearing on Campus

Updates

Dear Brown Community Members,

Public health conditions in Rhode Island and the northeastern United States have continued to improve this week, and all counties in the state are now considered medium risk areas according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) COVID-19 Community Levels risk assessment. While students and employees have continued to report positive test results for COVID-19, the numbers have declined generally and we have not observed any particular areas of concern coming out of Commencement and Reunion weekend. Accordingly, effective on Monday, June 6, we will return to optional mask wearing indoors on campus for individuals who are up to date with their COVID-19 vaccinations. Mask wearing will also be optional for these individuals on Brown University Shuttles. Related details regarding exceptions and requirements can be found in the updated campus health protocols can be found on the Campus Activity Status website.

As previously announced, the final day of test kit pick-up at Alumnae Hall will be Friday, June 17.

Sincerely,

Russell C. Carey
